Metacognitive monitoring and control in distributed cognition

Today we experience an ongoing expansion of the range available information, advanced communication technologies, and increase in multitasking. This has resulted a distributed nature cognitive activity, where external resources, devices other people are involved. That’s why development metacognitive knowledge strategies is crucial for effective usage one’s own abilities, as well cultural technological advances. In this review analyze describe specifics monitoring control context cognition. First all, consider different approaches to explaining how judgments formed, then empirical studies involvement regulation performance. The article emphasizes importance experiences prevention correction errors, searching integrating information from sources, making joint decisions. It been shown that based on them play role building representations competence when solving problem. Metacognitive also involved regulating search initiating offloading seeking help others. They important formation epistemic trust accepting their advices, improving effectiveness through social verification knowledge, used heuristic decisions making.
